Forgetting the Secret Name by kevissimo Forgetting the Secret Name by kevissimo
"A true name is a name of a thing or being that expresses, or is somehow identical with, its true nature. The notion that language, or some specific sacred language, refers to things by their true names has been central to magic, religious invocation and mysticism (mantras) since antiquity."
-Wikipedia

Edvard Munch's "The Scream" meets Ansel Kiefer.
If you never heard of or looked into Ansel Kiefer, you may want to. Do not know why I never noticed it until now but your painting style reminds me of his work.

This is fantastic. The title drew me instantly, the mystery, as always is present in your work.
This one is very earthy. She reminds me of a nature spirit, a Dryad or Hamadryad maybe. I love the distortion of her body as it seems to be growing out of a tree trunk, it makes her seem all the more elongated becauseo f the way that she is reaching. In the pose and expression she almost makes me think of Persephone, down in the bowels of the underworld, the earth pressing down on her, reaching upwards to the light.

Again, your work is outstanding. I think the reason it is such work of mastery is because you connect so well with both your model and your media. You encourage natural beauty and secrets unknown to emerge from both. Bravo.

Me...too...
Thank you!
It was tricky...the first time using white for a performance piece. It so does not behave like black...

Stunning. I love the ethereal look of her reaching...it's like she's either escaping or reaching to be caught up. Great visual.
