Mixed media oilgraph on canvas with blood. 36"x36"
History The Stations of the Cross are the fourteen traditional panels depicting the final moments of Christ's life starting with his condemnation to death at the hands of Pilate to his crucifixion and burial in the tomb. Over the years pilgrims would go to Jerusalem and walk the route Jesus took on his way to the cross, stopping at moments along the way to remember, reflect and pray. The Stations began appearing in the middle ages when pilgrims were forbidden to enter Jeruselem when it was occupied by the Turks. They made the Stations as a way to remember in Spirit back in their own countries. Long considered only a Catholic tradition, they are now finding a popularity across all traditions. These are my versions. This journey started in January of this year and the last of the Fourteen was completed April 4th.
This series is worthy of a comment on each and every image. They are all amazing. I've been waiting the luxury to do this, but the time will never come.
This one takes my breath away. They are all so moving, and evocotive, you've touched a nerve. How do you do it?
this is so intense and beautiful. what a powerful piece to depict the death of Jesus....it is like you can see the energy of life fleeing his mortal coil.
which reminds me, i would love to see you do a piece on the shround of turin. i think the imagery is so fitting with your style. just a thought that i had a while ago and failed to voice.

Thanks so much for all of that, Lorraine.....
The Turin Shroud....hmmm. I think it's a great idea. I have tossed around the thought actually. I was always a little hesitant to do it mainly becuase I'm really doubtful over it's authenticity...but that doesn't mean I couldn't find a way to make it speak to that doubt as well....
Thank you...let me ponder. You've given me inspiration (and not just with your idea)
You do consistant and amazing work. I'm more impressed by the consistancy of your work though, I know plenty of photographers that have come up with something amazing, but your work continues to be so almost every time I see it.
Where does the blood figure into this? As per your description. If there is a place you posted more in the way of explanation, I'd like to see it. I've been working on my portfolio and haven't been following the text of this project as much as I'd like to, though I've been looking at the images.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
