Once
long ago

there was a house
on Thomas Street

There, some young upstarts took alot of pictures
cried alot of tears and made alot of love

Everyone should have this chapter at least once

During that time while I spent months after graduation
editing a film that felt like only I cared about
there was a girl named Jill

This is jill
and it took all of these years before I even printed these images

Patience is not only a virtue
it is a necessity

But regardless, Jill
I remember you now
and the way the sun breathed on your back
in that post-college winter
when we moved the bed
but covered you with the sheets
and we never kissed but almost maybe
(or so i remember)

and that's ok

for here we are again
strange in this immediateness
so many seasons gone
but that look
still fresh
like the sting of life
that was yet to come
but hadn't arrived

not just yet
