The only bridge in Florence to survive the bombing by the retreating Nazis. I photographed it on my journey there in 1998.
It was the day after my travel companion Kelly found out that her Uncle was dying. It was October and it was raining on and off all day. Oilgraph on canvas (16x20) The original is now in a private collection. Daily DeviationGiven 2003-12-01Ponte Vecchio - Firenze by *kevissimo is an alluringly dark photograph of a major piece of history from WW2. The intriguing composition leaves nothing but an horrific story to be told and one that can be thought over each day as this beauty can be hanging on your wall. (Featured by °jark) |

Anyway, I will start with the personal. Florence is one of my favourite places in the world, and much like your Siena deviation, it immediately packs a punch on an emotive level. WIth your cityscapes, I tend to view them as reminiscent of medieval pieces, or perhaps High Gothic. My mind wanders between the two. The scraped sky works exceptionally well, although the size could be larger to I could explore the textural qualities of the image a little more.
I love this night feeling, the sky is wonderful too, going to fav it
yeah, for some reason I always end up getting the size wrong. Maybe it's DA....I thought I made it to 9 inches....
