THE DEATH OF SISERA AT THE HANDS OF JAEL

He did not come in peace
He came at a time of war

But evil and oppression
is not a rock on which one should stand
However popular however powerful it may seem

So when your army was routed you fled
to a tent occupied by a woman who foretold it
and you asked for shelter
for who was she to deny it?

And as you slept
she saw her enemy before her

and drove your skull into the ground
thus winning a war you never could

For it was foretold
"for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman."

And so it was
And so it ended

The actors could only shoot on two separate nights. So on night one, I shot Derek as Sisera as my friend Tara stood in for Jael. Simone, who had played Jael five years before came back to finish the job. I composited the two images together and 4 nights ago finally finished the piece.

There is no digital work here. The image is done with traditional photographic prints mounted on a wooden panel and painted. I rephotographed it while it was still wet.
