The old man took them to his home and when the mob descended demanding strange flesh, he proved his courage. Saved himself and threw her to the night.
And in those days there was no king and everyone did what was right in their own eyes
In the story she is never named. But now she has a face.
Thanks, Joel...and yes. It's a horrible story. I'm still working my way through it emotionally. At it's heart is how far we can descend when we abandon our sense of right and wrong...or redefine it by our own standards...
