Shot with a Holga on Tri-x. Oilgraph made of multiple elements on canvas
EDIT
Restored version Remounted (with fear and trembling) from the original canvas to wooden panel with a final varnish (as of 4AM this morning)
And color corrected from the horrible green magenta version that had been here for years from the days when I didn't have a chip chart. This is what the piece looks like in real life and is now about to go back to her new mom who purchased her back in 2004.
Again, this is a traditional photograph (montaged) and oil paint. There is no digital work.
She is still one of my favorite kids....
oilgraph on wooden panel 36"x36" -private collection-
Well, it's a photo first. I shot it with a Holga while I was in Uganda. Then I printed it on chopped up photographic paper all at one time. I then layed it out on the cavas (like assembling a puzzle) I glued it all down then used the oil color over top. It's a sort off add take away add again type of process that varies from piece to piece. Technically this would be called a mixed media with photo and oil. I just like the word "oilgraph" better....

Absolutely stunning. Without including cliche elements here you have brought forth emotions and great depth in simple and elegant colours. Nothing extravagant yet to me it is an utterly inspiring image. Tones and blending are splended, they're rough but the oil causes such a soft haze throughout the image. I love the incorporation of multimedia and canvas. One of my favourite aspects of art, and it truly shows emotion of your effort and time invested in your piece. Wonderful work, I love it and I have to add this to my favourites.
