Station Fifteen
The Resurrection

Traditionally the Stations end with the Fourteenth, but my feeling is that they lose their deeper meaning without the fifteenth.
Picturing the Resurrection was difficult without slipping into cliche. So I decided to depict the moment of the women finding the empty tomb and the angel declaring what had happened. According to the account the angel said a number of things: 'Fear Not' (because angelic appearances were apparently terrifying) 'He's not here, he is risen' and 'go tell the desciples'

I decided to depict all those moments at one time.

This is the final piece of the Stations. It was created in ritual performance April 22nd in Asbury Kentucky as the culmination of the series. I wrote about it in my journal entry: [link]

These are all so beautiful, you have done such a fabulous job. These are by far my favorite depictions of His Passion, done in a stunning media.

It is so good to finally see all 15 panels up here on dA.

After seeing all the ones that were missing from here on dA, I collected them all into a small collection in my favorites so I could view them in order, as I had done such a short time ago abour this time last year. I believe it was Good Friday.

How completely touched I was, like no other time, even through my upbringing in the Catholic church. How I looked and stared at each of your images...feeling...How FINALLY, after all these years going to church, and my years in Catholic School, how, even through Holy Communion and Confirmation I was never touched so deeply. Finally, those stations had meaning.

After that showing, I purchased your book. I read it cover to cover, took time to meditate for the first time in many many years. I shared the words with those I loved and even brought my mother to meet you and see your work. I LOVE that book because it re-awakened a part of my soul I had once thought gone forever.

You have been a vessel, of learning, realization, and peace...so many other things. You have been blessed, and I have been blessed by knowing your art, and knowing you, even so little as I do. I can honestly say I have been touched by the holy spirit, because I have known you.

Your work is beautiful and inspiring and you simply rock!
Blessings,
V

It just seems incredibly fucking crass to start commenting about this artwork in a comment thread.

I finally set aside the time to go through all 15 Stations tonight and found the journey...transcendent. I was moved to tears, still am, as I write this, crying.

As a mother.
As a non-Christian.
As an empath.
As a human being.

Thank you.

Wow.. the many arms on the angel really depict the movement such a being might have if it appeared. I can sense the flowing, kinda of motion-blurring effect that might happen. And that sky! Damn, is that a thing of beauty. Reminds me of a clearing sky after a nasty storm. Very fitting if ya ask me.

Still can't believe that the you made that cave... but I saw it in your jounral, so I know it's true :) Looks real to me though... had I not known better, I might have tried to find out where that locale was!

Beautiful ending to and endlessly beautiful series.

Thank you....it's all done traditionally with hand printed photos and oilcolor. I don't use digital. And, yes, I've been exhibiting for about fifteen years now...

Your work never ceases to amaze me. It's like you are a vessel for channeling the divine and the untouchable. You make the invisible visible and just by viewing your work we touch something infinite and astounding.

I love the depth and the rustic colors. The sky is on fire and the earth is singing in rejoice...
