Station FifteenThe ResurrectionTraditionally the Stations end with the Fourteenth, but my feeling is that they lose their deeper meaning without the fifteenth.
Picturing the Resurrection was difficult without slipping into cliche. So I decided to depict the moment of the women finding the empty tomb and the angel declaring what had happened. According to the account the angel said a number of things: 'Fear Not' (because angelic appearances were apparently terrifying) 'He's not here, he is risen' and 'go tell the desciples'
I decided to depict all those moments at one time.
This is the final piece of the Stations. It was created in ritual performance April 22nd in Asbury Kentucky as the culmination of the series. I wrote about it in my journal entry:

After seeing all the ones that were missing from here on dA, I collected them all into a small collection in my favorites so I could view them in order, as I had done such a short time ago abour this time last year. I believe it was Good Friday.
How completely touched I was, like no other time, even through my upbringing in the Catholic church. How I looked and stared at each of your images...feeling...How FINALLY, after all these years going to church, and my years in Catholic School, how, even through Holy Communion and Confirmation I was never touched so deeply. Finally, those stations had meaning.
After that showing, I purchased your book. I read it cover to cover, took time to meditate for the first time in many many years. I shared the words with those I loved and even brought my mother to meet you and see your work. I LOVE that book because it re-awakened a part of my soul I had once thought gone forever.
You have been a vessel, of learning, realization, and peace...so many other things. You have been blessed, and I have been blessed by knowing your art, and knowing you, even so little as I do. I can honestly say I have been touched by the holy spirit, because I have known you.
Your work is beautiful and inspiring and you simply rock!
