The Night Abandon

He took her for his concubine. A wife but not wife. A lover but without love.
And leaving him, took her back. But in the taking took her too late for journeying. She begged for Jerusalem to go, but in those days Jerusalem was not of their people. So to a city of their people he dragged her. But their people proved otherwise.

The old man took them to his home and when the mob descended demanding strange flesh, he proved his courage. Saved himself and threw her to the night.

And in those days there was no king
and everyone did what was right in their own eyes

In the story she is never named.
But now she has a face.

EDIT: In 2009 I had an exhibition of works near Houston, including this work. It never returned and the curator failed to insure it. UPS gave up on the search. 
So, she's still out there somewhere.
